More About Us

Since we started out making headboards and mattresses over 25 years ago our aim here at Sweet Dreams has never wavered: we provide top quality products at the best prices with exemplary service.

Our core operation continues to be the manufacture of divans and mattresses here in the UK and this is at the heart of everything we do. Over the years we’ve expanded our offer; for instance, we began the in-house manufacture of fabric upholstered beds offered in a selection of colours and designs. Importantly, we have also created a skilled British workforce who manufacture our famously wide range of divans and mattresses.

Sweet Dreams is proud to have been one of the first companies to introduce side-opening ottoman divan beds to the market and we continually strive to release new innovative products. One of our biggest successes to date has been the launch of our British-made fabric upholstered TV beds, which were an instant hit on the high street. Our TV beds continue to be bestsellers.

We have developed our range year-on-year and now boast an extensive range of bedroom furniture for the home within our catalogue. In 2013 we invested £2million in a new, on-site warehouse facility to store our products, enabling us to offer express home delivery on many items. That year we also won Burnley’s Medium Business of the Year Award. In 2014 we were Highly Commended in the NBF’s (National Bed Federation’s) Bed Manufacturer of the Year Award as well as being awarded a Gold Standard from buyers’ group AIS. In 2015 we expanded our premises once more with the purchase of a Victorian mill, and again in 2016 with a £1m investment  in a 70,000 sq foot mill in nearby Nelson.

Our strength and focus have always been on providing a quality product with exemplary service. Our network of stockists nationwide give testament to how successfully we achieve our aims.

We are extremely proud to have celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2013, which generated extra energy to keep us moving forward. We are continually looking to invest in machinery and in market research to enhance our products; we have plans to extend the range and introduce more winners to the market in the future. In May 2016 we brought our British-made upholstery previously sold under the Comfort Zone Sofas name back into the Sweet Dreams family, enhancing our offer. We would like to thank all of our stockists in the UK and beyond for their continued support. We look forward to putting British manufacturing back on the podium where it belongs.

Buy a Sweet Dreams product with utmost confidence knowing that we are an NBF (National Bed Federation) Approved member.

Membership of the NBF is now dependent on compliance with the Code, and to achieve that compliance every NBF manufacturer member has agreed to an independent audit against the Code’s strict criteria, conducted by BM TRADA, a major provider of independent certification, testing, inspection and technical services, which incorporates furniture specialists FIRA International Ltd.

This is a great initiative which gives added confidence to the buyer knowing that the bed you will purchase or have purchased has been ethically manufactured. Here at Sweet Dreams we always ensure that the highest standard of ethics is used in our manufacturing process and we try to recycle as much waste as possible.

We are proud to be supporters of the sleep council organisation which spends a lot of time and effort on providing much valuable information about beds and selecting the right type of bed.

We recommend anyone looking to purchase a bed to go through the bed guide from the sleep council as there is some excellent advice to ensure you find the right type of bed to suit your needs. It is not always straight forward to know what to look for when selecting bed so its best you take the advice before purchasing.

Not only does the sleep council provide information of selecting a bed but it always provides excellent information on sleeping and what are the best known ways to have a more relaxing and deeper sleep.
