Semi-aniline
leather is more hard-wearing than aniline leather, although the
natural look of the hide is still apparent. The increased durability
is thanks to a light surface coating which contains a small amount
of pigment. With its consistent colour and stain resistance, semi-aniline
is a great choice for easy-care, long-lasting good looks.
Eco-leather is made from pieces of regenerated,
natural leather bonded onto a
man-made material. The result looks
good, makes sound environmental sense and is light on the pocket.
It has further advantages: eco-leather is ultra-strong and durable,
easy to care for and soft and supple to handle, with excellent
UV resistance for
fade-resistant, stable colour.
Eco-leather is also sometimes known as coated or bonded leather.
Bycast leather is a thin layer of leather covered
with a polyurethane layer which is then embossed for consistency
of appearance. Also known as split leather, it is hard-wearing,
easy to clean and maintains its shiny, new appearance well. Microfibre is hard-wearing and slow to show
surface dirt.
Corrected leather is where imperfections are
removed from the grain’s surface before a protective surface
coating is applied.
A decorative grain pattern is then embossed into the surface.
Half leather is where imperfections are removed from the grain’s
surface before a protective surface coating is applied. A decorative
grain pattern is then embossed into the surface.
